About us |
Established in 2017In today’s society, our youth are exposed to sex through the media, and many adults are not receiving the proper education about any adverse effects of sex. Many people are confused or
uncomfortable about sexuality and the importance of self-love. Sugar Honey Iced Tea (S.H.I.T.) is here to provide education, clarification, support, and a safe place. |
Our GoalSugar Honey Iced Tea provides a “real talk” conversation with our audience, making them feel like they are talking to their friend, brother, sister, cousin, or mother figure. We want our audience to be
comfortable conversing with us and for us to educate on a personable level and not on a group of authority. Let’s make the comfortable uncomfortable and build the confidence and awareness needed in today’s society. |
Meet Our Founder
MeYonna SwaVaye Jabbaar B.A., ABS
Founder and Executive Director
Detroit native MeYonna SwaVaye is a Certified Sexologist, Senior Public Health Educator, Speaker, and the visionary behind Sugar Honey Iced Tea, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth and young adults through sex-positive education, safer sex tools, and stigma-free dialogue. As a young mother raised in the city she uses both her professional expertise and real-life experience to create affirming spaces where conversations about sex, pleasure, and identity are normalized.
MeYonna holds a degree in Family Community Services from Michigan State University, with a minor in Women and Gender Studies and a specialization in LGBTQ+ Studies. She is also a Certified Clinical Sexuality Coach and Educator through the Dr. Rachel Institute, a Certified Nursing Assistant, and a proud member of the American Board of Sexology.
Her journey began with a curiosity sparked at age four and evolved into a career rooted in justice, advocacy, and healing. Frustrated by the lack of inclusive sexual health resources in Detroit, she launched Sugar Honey Iced Tea to serve youth ages 13–25 with culturally responsive programs that center self-love, consent, confidence, and community wellness.
MeYonna is also the founder of Raw and Explicit, a bold adult-focused brand that delves into pleasure, healing, and self-discovery through an unapologetically Black and sex-positive lens. Her statewide advocacy work includes leading community education efforts as part of the Mahogany Blue Campaign with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), which promotes PrEP access and HIV prevention for Black women in Michigan.
As a national speaker and presenter, MeYonna has lectured on sexual health, STIs, HIV awareness, and stigma reduction at major conferences and summits including the United States Conference on HIV/AIDS (USCHA) hosted by NMAC, the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), and Equity in Bloom, among others.
Whether she's speaking from a stage, facilitating workshops, or distributing safer sex kits in the community, MeYonna is committed to making sexual health real, relatable, and radically empowering especially for those who've been silenced, underserved, or labeled “too much.”
